As of January 1, 2025, all companies in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. The basic obligation to issue an electronic invoice also applies. However, there is a transitional period here due to the high implementation costs. The software products we use have already met the requirements for some time.
An electronic invoice (e-invoice) is characterized by a predefined structured form that enables automated processing. The well-known formats are ZUGFeRD and XRechnung.
In many areas, an exchange has been taking place on a voluntary basis for some time. As many issues relating to digitalization are only making slow progress in Germany, the legislator has set a transition period of 2025-2027 for invoice issuers.
In addition to more efficient processing, there is a desire to ensure greater security, less administrative effort and better traceability when switching to e-invoices.
If you use products from eGECKO, 42 Software, Sage or Diamant and use the functions available there for receiving and sending invoices, you can sit back and relax in this regard. Alternatively, we will be happy to support you with the setup.
